There is no application deadline for recertification.

The American Board of Vascular Medicine (ABVM) certification examinations (general and/or endovascular medicine) were initially offered in 2005 with recertification required at 10 years. Recertification examinations for 2005-2007 diplomates are now available and can be taken throughout the year with immediate results.  ABVM RECERTIFICATION examinations in 2016 are for diplomates who obtained their primary certification in 2005, 2006, or 2007. A candidate for RECERTIFICATION must hold the primary certificate from the ABVM in the respective examination (general, endovascular or both).

The score report you receive from the testing proctor will state whether you passed/failed.  No further information regarding scores is available.  These examinations will consist of 70-75 items and will be shorter in length (approximately 1.5 hours each). No documentation is required other than demographic information. Once you have completed the recertification form and paid the fee, your demographic information will be downloaded to PSI.   Shortly thereafter, you will receive an email with instructions on how to schedule your exam.  Please make sure to check your Junk folder if you do not see the e-mail.  All candidates who have passed the exam will receive a certificate.

Candidates who fail the exam(s) will be required to wait 90 days before reapplying with no more than two attempts in a one year period of time.

You must recertify within 3 years from the time your current certificate expires. Failure to do so will result in having to re-sit for the primary exam. Those wishing to recertify before their certification expires may do so. Please take a minute to update your demographic information by clicking on this link to update your personal information update your personal information.

Fees: $450.00 general exam, $650.00 endovascular exam, $1,000.00 for both exams.

Once a candidate completes an application for recertification, scheduling and testing must occur in the same calendar year.  Cancellations and absenteeism will not be refunded and will result in the candidate having to resubmit a new application and fee.   No exceptions will be granted.
